Edwinson EFC Falcon Cutaway

The EFC Falcon is a recent addition to the Edwinson guitar line, introduced in August 2009 at the Healdsburg Guitar Festival. This instrument is a 3/4 size guitar, about the same proportions as a Parlor, or OO. It is small in size, and very easy to play, but it was not my intention to design the Falcon to be a baby, or a knockabout toy. This is a fully fledged concert quality guitar, and is equally at home in the recording studio.

When I took the first Falcon down to the Healdsburg show, it was brand-new off my work bench, just four days old. Right from the start, it had a rich, complex voice, with an amazing amount of volume and sustain. The first Falcon guitar sold on the first day of the exhibition. If I had only had three or four more Falcons with me at the show, I’m certain they would all have gone to new owners, because everyone who played this little raptor came back brimming with superlatives. This new guitar exceeded my best expectations in every way.

Right after I returned home from the Guitar Festival, I got two new Falcons started right away. I hope I get to keep one, but I doubt it. Lots of very canny players want a serious, no-compromise guitar they can bring along safely on business trips, vacations, and gigs on the road. This guitar is small enough to carry just about anywhere, but big enough to fill the ears of rooms full of people.

Here’s a link to the Acoustic Guitar Forum, where J.R., the owner of the first Falcon prototype, shares pictures and a written appraisal of the guitar.  J.R. is owner and founder of the AGF, which is an excellent information sharing and discussion forum for all things relating to the acoustic guitar. J.R. did me a great honor by choosing to own this guitar.  Acoustic Guitar Forum rocks my world!

The Falcon really is not a Parlor guitar. This isn’t a guitar that waits a long time for its turn to be played. The Falcon has a very high metabolism, and it isn’t meant to sit still for long. The Falcon was born to fly!
